Dog owners across Ipswich have a fresh reason to head outdoors, following the opening of a new district-level dog off-leash area at Limestone Park.
The Ipswich City Council (ICC) facility caters for dogs of all sizes, with separate zones for small and large breeds, agility equipment, shelters, seating, drinking fountains, bins and landscaping — a setup designed to make the popular park even more of a drawcard for pet owners.
The new dog park is the latest to tap into strong search interest in dog parks and off-leash areas across Queensland. Google Trends search data shows consistent interest in related terms over the past five years.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding said the new leash area included an obstacle course built as part of the facility’s dog agility equipment.
Division Three Councillor Marnie Doyle sit was pleasing to help encourage healthy, active lifestyles while making Limestone Park an even more enjoyable place to visit.
Fellow Division Three Councillor Andrew Antoniolli said the project responds to the needs of a growing community and enhances one of Ipswich’s most popular parks.
“Limestone Park is a destination for residents from across the city, and this new dog off leash area provides a safe, purpose-built space where dogs can exercise and socialise while owners connect with other members of the community,” Cr Antoniolli said.
Alongside the new off-leash space, a new accessible car park and disability-compliant footpath have been constructed, while existing trees have been retained to provide natural shade for visitors and their pets.
