Cochrane’s success story continues

Cochrane’s Transport has celebrated 50 years of delivering freight and held a thank you event at its newly established depot at 12 Lincoln Drive, Hindmarsh Valley (Victor Harbor), Cochrane’s Transport collect parcels and pallets from and to the region daily and setting up a depot on the Fleurieu will save many local businesses many trips to town.

Jodie Hill (Director) said the depot site was developed using local services and trades.

“We employ local people to provide the delivery services. We are the only freight company using this model, all others are trying to service the area out of Adelaide,” Jodie said.

“Growing demand for deliveries into Victor and surrounding areas meant that Cochrane’s were sending seven 10 pallet trucks each day from their Adelaide depot.

“To better meet the needs of this growing region it was decided that a more efficient solution would be to establish a local base that could receive semi-trailer deliveries each night and then split the freight on to a fleet of smaller vehicles for next day delivery.”

The depot site was purchased in May 2022: the existing building was significantly renovated and a 720sqm awning was added.

First day of operation was October 31, 2022. Five vehicles will come out of the depot. At least 15 local businesses, including Filip’s Garage Doors, Fleurieu Concrete, Shed Ex Fleurieu, White Excavations and P&B Roof Restoration were used to establish the depot.

The depot is on 4000sqm(shed 900sqm and awning 720sqm) with six local staff, including Depot Manager Mark Anderton.
