As May is SA History Month, the Fleurieu Antiques and Collectables Group will be celebrating it with a presentation by Peter Wood about the old hand tools used by the first European settlers in the district. Some of the tools in Peter’s collection actually came from pioneer families in Victor Harbor.
The meeting will take place at Carrickalinga House in Victor Harbor on Sunday afternoon, May 14 beginning at 2pm. As well as the main speaker, there will be a Show and Tell by members, and a mystery item with a prize for the closest answer.
Visitors are welcome to attend. At the April meeting, the group was shown a DVD about blue and white china, which was well illustrated by examples brought by several members.
Among the most interesting items was a sample of blue and white eggcups, and a 19th-century blue and white footed dish which had been repaired with staples in the antique manner.
